Fact Sheet for JBLM
Quick Facts
Who: Approximately 30 Active-Duty JBLM Service Members and their families. Please note: Single-parent families or families where the military spouse is deployed or in training may also apply to attend.
What: Military Family Adventures at Malibu Club. The purpose of this week is to provide a spiritually resilient family camp focusing on the Christian faith. People join us who worship via numerous denominations, and we respect their choices. We do not talk about any specific denomination.
There will be a nightly program with a short message, singing and a comedy skit, as well as numerous recreational activities. Activities include water-skiing, wakeboarding, tubing, kayaking, ropes course, heated swimming pool, hiking, basketball, paddle boarding, sand volleyball, disc golf and a playground. There will be a daily itinerary for group activities, but it is not mandatory to participate in all activities. Childcare is available on site during scheduled activities.
When: August 13-20, 2024
Where: Malibu Club is a private resort located on the Princess Louisa Inlet about 100 miles north of Vancouver, Canada. Luxury buses will transport families from JBLM to Canada where we will board a private ferry to travel the last portion of our journey.
Why: To allow Service Members and their families to get away from the stress of everyday life, spend quality time together, laugh a lot and be restored.
How Much: Thanks to anonymous and generous donors, you pay only a small registration fee for your entire family for the week. This fee covers all meals at the resort, activities, lodging and round-trip transportation for the family for the week. The registration fee is based on rank: E1-E5 – $50; E6-E9 – $75; CW1-O3 – $100; O4 and above – $150.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I apply?
Apply Here. Applications will be accepted beginning February 1, 2024. Space is limited, so apply as soon as possible! On or about May 25, 2024, we will notify families if they have been selected to attend. If not selected, you will be given the opportunity to go onto a Waiting List. Each year we have been able to eventually accommodate several families from the Waiting List. To accommodate as many families as possible, you will only be allowed to attend a Military Family Adventure once.
If Selected, When Do I Pay the Registration Fee?
We will ask you to pay within 15 days of your selection via a credit or debit card. Your registration fee covers round-trip transportation from JBLM, meals while at Malibu Club, lodging and all activities. We recommend that you bring spending money for travel meals and to make personal purchases at the gift shop, snack bar, or coffee shop (if you wish).
International Border Requirements:
Age 19 and Over: Passport, Passport Card, or an Enhanced Driver’s License (We regret that Service Members may not use a military passport.)
Age 18 and Younger: Birth Certificate and photo ID
General Requirements?
The following are not permitted on the property: pets, alcoholic beverages, illegal drugs, recreational marijuana, vapes, firearms, knives, fireworks or explosives. Smoking is permitted only in a designated smoking area on the property.
What should I bring?
The only items that families need are their personal items (outdoor clothes, swim suits, sunglasses, sunscreen, hats, etc.), snacks if they want, and a willingness to relax and have fun.
What are the lodging accommodations like?
Good news! This is not a camping trip! Each family will be housed in a separate, private dorm style room with multiple bunk beds and a private bathroom—minus the television and telephone. Each room has electricity. Pillows, blankets, sheets, bath towels and beach towels will be provided.
Do I need to bring/plan for additional expenses?
Your registration fee covers round-trip transportation from JBLM, lodging, three meals a day while at Malibu Club, and all recreational activities. We recommend that you bring spending money for travel meals and to make personal purchases at the gift shop, snack bar, or coffee shop (if you wish).
