NOTICE OF DATA EVENT

Young Life is providing notice of a recent data privacy event that may affect information related to certain individuals. ​ The confidentiality, privacy, and security of information is one of Young Life’s highest priorities and it takes this matter seriously. At this time, there is no evidence of any identity theft or fraud occurring as the result of this incident.

On June 14, 2024, Young Life became aware of suspicious activity within its computer network. ​ Young Life swiftly took steps to 1) secure its environment and 2) launched an investigation to determine the nature and scope of the activity. Through its investigation, Young Life learned its network had been infected with malware, and an unauthorized actor may have accessed or acquired certain files on systems. ​ ​ Young Life then began the extensive process of reviewing these files, and learned they included information related to current and former employees, their dependents, and certain volunteers. Although Young Life has no evidence of any identity theft or fraud in connection with this incident, out of an abundance of caution, it is notifying those whose information was present within the files.

While the information impacted varies by individual, the types of information that could have been impacted includes: Social Security number, driver’s license number, financial account information, payment card information, medical information, health insurance information, date of birth, digital signature, employer assigned identification number, military identification number, passport number, username and password, biometric data, and international tax identification number. ​ Again, at this time, there is no evidence of any identity theft or fraud occurring as the result of this incident, and Young Life has updated its systems for even greater security.

Young Life is providing notice and complimentary access to credit monitoring services to individuals whose information was affected in this event. ​ Young Life also notified relevant state authorities, and law enforcement. ​ Individuals who have questions about this incident can contact our dedicated call center, toll-free at 1-833-833-1698 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. EST, Monday -– Friday, excluding holidays. Young Life encourages impacted individuals to remain vigilant against incidents of identity theft and fraud, to review account statements, and to monitor their credit reports for suspicious activity and to detect errors. Young Life is providing impacted individuals with contact information for the three major credit reporting agencies, as well as providing advice on how to obtain free credit reports and how to place fraud alerts and security freezes on their credit files. ​ The relevant contact information is below:
