Chief Financial Officer
A graduate of Calvin College (BS in accounting) and the University of Michigan (MBA), Scott was raised by parents who instilled a deep sense of service and compassion; throughout his childhood to today, Scott’s parents welcomed more than 100 foster children into their home and eventually adopted three.
Scott came to Young Life after an impressive career with Target Corporation. Initially drawn to Target’s corporate culture that was characterized as “fast, fun and friendly,” Scott has held several senior-level positions, including CFO of the retailer’s online subsidiary. He served most recently as the vice president for Financial Planning and Analysis, where he was responsible for planning, budgeting and ensuring that Target’s $16 billion of operating expenses were spent efficiently.
Reflecting on his role in Young Life, Scott says he, “can’t imagine a better organization where [his] financial skill set can put service first and help build God’s Kingdom!”
Scott and his wife, Cheryl, have two sons: Cameron is a junior at Baylor University and Mitchell is a freshman at Calvin. Scott is an avid golfer and, with Cheryl, enjoys downhill skiing and live music.
