Billy grew up as a preacher’s kid and loved every minute of it. “My dad and my mom lived out Monday through Saturday what my dad preached on Sunday. I discovered early on people in the church congregation loved my parents for the way they cared for them and that love transferred over to me too.” After graduating from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, Billy started a political consulting business with his longtime friend, Chad Edwards. This led to him serving as the chief of staff for the Speaker Pro Tem of the Kansas House of Representatives.

However, he couldn’t get ministry out of his blood and in 1999 Billy and his wife, along with close friends, moved to Lisbon, Portugal, to start Young Life for the first time in that country. This was the beginning of an amazing Young Life journey that has literally taken Billy around the world during a season of incredible international growth for Young Life. Billy has served in numerous roles for the mission and is credited with being the primary architect of the foundation of the current international operational infrastructure. Most recently he served as the field senior vice president for the Middle EurAsia Division from 2020 to 2023 (this includes countries formerly part of the Soviet Union).

Billy wakes up in the morning with a desire to listen to the Lord and follow his lead. He is grateful for the privilege he has to serve the Lord through Young Life. Billy and his wife live in Wichita, Kansas, and are proud parents of three amazing daughters.
